What We Believe

Church

General Statement of Faith

  • The Scriptures - We believe the Bible is the written word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in the original manuscripts. The Bible is the revelation of God’s truth and is infallible and authoritative in all matters of faith and practice.

  • The Trinity- We believe in the Holy Trinity. There is one God, who exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. All three are uncreated, coeternal, and equal in power, glory, and honor. They are rightly worshiped as one true God - three in one, and one in three.

  • The Fall of Man - We believe that all are sinners and totally unable to save themselves from God’s displeasure, except by His mercy. We believe that salvation is by God alone as He sovereignly chooses those He will save. We believe His choice is based on His grace, not on any human individual merit, or foreseen faith.

  • The Person & Work of Jesus Christ -We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, who through His perfect life and sacrificial death atoned for the sins of all who will trust in Him, alone, for salvation.

  • The Christian Life - We believe that all aspects of our lives are to be lived to the glory of God under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

  • A Gospel Church - We believe in the universal church, consisting of all believers, and the local church which includes baptized believers. The church has two sacraments: Baptism and the Lord's Supper.

  • The Last Things - We believe that Jesus will return, bodily and visibly, to judge all mankind and to receive His people to Himself.

Church

Distinctives

  • Reformed Baptist - We consider ourselves Confessional (1689 London Baptist Confession), Calvinist (5 Points of Calvinism), and Covenantal (God has an eternal Covenant of Grace with His people). We hold to baptism upon a credible profession of faith.

  • Victorious Gospel - We believe the world belongs to Jesus Christ. He has commissioned and empowered His church to be salt and light to a dark world. It is our duty to bring the Gospel of victory to and influence every area of life and culture.

  • Family Integration - We believe it is important for families to worship God together as families. We avoid age-segregated worship and strive to conduct our services so that everyone may participate.

  • Christian Education - We see the family as being responsible for the education of their children. As a congregation, we strive to support and equip parents for this great responsibility whatever their circumstances.

  • Gender Roles & God's Purpose for Marriage - We believe God has created humanity with two and only two genders, male and female that are equal in dignity and worth before God. God designed marriage as a covenantal, sexual, procreative, lifelong union between one man and one woman that signifies the covenant love between Christ and His church. Marriage is designed by God as a biblically patriarchal relationship with men as the head and women as the helper where men love and provide for their wives and women submit to and support their husbands.

Doctrinal Statement

We generally hold to the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith. It is not infallible, but it is nonetheless a lesser authoritative document that we adhere to. We believe the doctrinal standards set forth in this document contain accurate summaries of all the essential beliefs of the orthodox Christian faith taught in the Holy Scriptures. It is not required for membership that a person accept every distinctive in these confessional documents, as long as they believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in the substitutionary death of Christ on the cross, Christ’s burial, and Christ’s bodily resurrection from the dead. However, it is required that all in positions of a pastoral and teaching capacity adhere to the doctrinal constructs taught by the 1689 London Baptist Confession.
